The construction technology program will provide students with instruction in the following areas:  mathematics for construction trades, beginning carpentry, general maintenance carpentry, building painting exterior/ interior, drywall maintenance/repair, forming & framing, concrete work, residential framing. 

Employment in the construction field is projected to grow 24 percent from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average for all occupations.  Students can work in all fields of construction, and demand for laborers will mirror the level of overall construction activity.  Repairing and replacing the nation’s infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, and water lines, should result in steady demand for construction workers.  This program is designed to help students gain and keep employment in the construction field.

Grade level requirement: 10,11,12 (Juniors will be given preference)
Prerequisites: Completed application
Number of college credits earned: 28*
Career opportunities: This program will prepare sutdents for an entry level career in the construction field.  Opportunities may include:  building homes & businesses, tearing down buildings, removing hazardous material, building highways & roads, digging tunnels & mine shafts.  Work experience may lead to a supervisory position.
Average salary: Entry Level: $29,160 annually ($14.02 hourly); Supervisory Level:  $60,380 annually ($29.03 hourly)**
